Makna Larangan Dalam Uslūb Al-Nahy Surah Al-Baqarah: Tinjauan Semantik Kontekstual

Abstract

As the word of God, the Qur'an is addressed to Muslims not only as a source of religious teachings, but also covers various aspects of human life. As a guide to life, the Qur'an contains various rhetorical and linguistic strategies used to convey the message of religious teachings, such as the use of the letter nafī (negative letters) in the Qur'an and how its semantik meaning is deep. This article presents a semantic analysis of the use of ḥurūf an-nafī (particles of negation) that appear in succession in Surah Al-Baqarah. These particles play a significant role in shaping the stylistic structure of prohibition (uslūb al-nahy) and contribute to a deeper understanding of Qur'anic verses. This study employs a semantic-linguistic approach combined with Qur'anic exegesis to explore the implications of ḥurūf al-nafī across various contextual usages. Through semantic analysis, the study reveals that the consecutive use of these negation particles generates diverse meanings, including emphasis, rejection, clarification, and contrast. The findings indicate that the stylistic structure of prohibition in the Qur’an is not merely normative but is also rich in meaning, offering linguistic depth that can be uncovered through a semantic perspective. There are 15 verses that use the instrument nafī (negation) in a row or connected in one sentence structure or in one particular topic. This pattern is called al-Mughāyarah, which is a combination of two nafi instruments, usually "mā" and "lā", which are used simultaneously in one context of meaning, but show different nuances of time and depth of negation. This research contributes to the development of Qur’anic stylistics and semantics and opens avenues for further inquiry in the fields of Qur’anic linguistics and tafsir.
