Abstract

This research is titled “Polysemy of the Words الأمة, لسان, and ضرب in the Quran (A Semantic Relation Study),” which aims to elucidate the polysemous meanings of the words الأمة, لسان, and ضرب in the Quran. The research method used by the researcher in writing this article is a qualitative descriptive approach. This approach is the method the researcher relies on to analyze the polysemy of the words الأمة, لسان, and ضرب in the Qur'an. In this study, the objects of research are the words الأمة, لسان, and ضرب found in the Qur'an. The data collection technique in this research uses the note-taking method. The observation method is a data collection method conducted through the process of observing or monitoring the use of the language being studied. The collection of information and data necessary for writing this research plan relies on the library research method, which means gathering information by reading various scientific books related to the research question, including literary books, articles, and other materials related to the topic. The results of this research conclude that the word ضرب in the Quran has various meanings, including: to make, to cover/overwhelm, to go to war, to make an effort, to travel, to stop lowering, to close. The word الأمة in the Quran also has various meanings, including an imam, a group of people, a community, a religion, or a belief. The word لسان in the Quran also has various meanings, including tongue, language, and mouth.
